I missed last week’s update, maybe out of frustration at not seeing much progress—or maybe because I struggled to stay consistent with my workouts. As I’ve mentioned before, August probably isn’t the easiest month to start a weight-loss program. With fall sports camps rolling into the universities, my schedule gets thrown off. But now that school is officially starting, I’m hopeful I can settle into a more regular routine and find that consistency I need.
Where I’m At
This morning’s weigh-in showed I’m down about two pounds. That’s progress, but honestly, it’s not enough. I know I can do better. If I tighten up my workout consistency, stay disciplined with portion control, and really lock in my mindset, I believe the results will start to reflect the effort.

New Tools for the Journey
In August, I added a couple of things to support my fitness push.
First, I bought a bike. Bismarck, North Dakota has some great bike paths, and I’m looking forward to mixing in cycling for variety and endurance. Another reason I made the purchase is for my summer trips to Minnesota, especially around the Detroit Lakes area. Every time I drive past that bike path from Detroit Lakes to Perham—stretching about 15 miles—I think, “I want to ride that.” Next summer, I will.
I also started using a smartwatch to track both sleep and daily activity. Seeing the data on my rest patterns and movement gives me extra motivation to improve. Sometimes that little nudge—closing a ring, hitting a step goal—is exactly what I need.
Goals for September
September is about discipline. My goal is to hit the gym at least 15 days this month and make sure I’m doing some form of movement every single day. By the end of the month, I want to see my weight down to 265 pounds.
The formula is simple: consistency + discipline = results. Now it’s just about putting in the work. Let’s go.
🔑 Takeaway of the Month
Progress is slow, but progress is progress. Two pounds down may not feel like much, but it’s proof that small steps add up. This month, I’m reminding myself: stay consistent, stay patient, and the results will come.
