Slow And Steady Wins The Race.

While the weight isn’t coming off as fast as I might like, it is moving in the right direction, and that’s what matters most. On Wednesday, July 1, I weighed in at 269.8 pounds. Getting back on track with my regular Sunday weigh-ins, I stepped on the scale this morning, Sunday, July 5, and I am at 268.5 pounds.

I actually forgot that my last weigh-in wasn’t a full week ago, which makes this loss even more exciting. To lose 1.3 pounds in less than a week is a great start and gives me some confidence that I am heading in the right direction.

I also returned to my workout routine and got my lifts in on Thursday and Friday. This week will be a little different because I will be out of town on Thursday, so I have to adjust the schedule a bit. The plan is chest, shoulders, and triceps on Monday, back, biceps, and legs on Tuesday, and then a full-body workout on Friday.

The good news is that I should be doing a lot of hiking this week, so that will more than take care of my cardio. Sometimes exercise doesn’t always have to happen in the gym. Getting outside, being active, and enjoying a hike can be just as beneficial.

Nutrition continues to be my biggest challenge. I intend to add more vegetables and fruits to my diet. It has been difficult changing from my old habits of sandwiches and chips, but I am trying to make at least one meal each day consist of lean protein and vegetables. Small changes, repeated consistently, can lead to big results over time.

My goal is to reach 264 pounds by the end of July. That means I still have some work to do, but I believe it is an attainable goal. Continued movement, getting busier at work, staying consistent with my workouts, and keeping my portions under control will all help me get there.

I have learned that this journey isn’t about being perfect. There will be weeks when the scale doesn’t move and weeks when life gets in the way. The important thing is to keep showing up, keep making good choices, and trust the process.

One pound at a time. One workout at a time. One good meal at a time.

The road to 240 pounds continues, and for the first week of July, I like the direction I’m heading.

Have you ever found that slow, steady progress ended up being more successful than trying to lose weight quickly?
