Progress Continues… and So Does the Vision
The progress continues.
This morning I weighed in at 266.8 pounds, down from 269.6 pounds a week ago.
That’s another solid week of progress and another reminder that consistency — even imperfect consistency — works.
Cancun 250
In just 9 days, I’ll be heading to Cancun.
When I first started this journey, my goal was ambitious:
250 pounds by Cancun.
At this point, I know I won’t quite get there before the trip. But instead of seeing that as failure, I’m beginning to realize something important:
Setting that goal changed my direction.
Without it, I honestly might still be sitting at 270 pounds or higher right now.
Instead:
- I’m eating better
- I’m moving more
- I’m thinking differently
- And most importantly, I’m proving to myself that change is possible
Now the focus shifts slightly.
New Goal for Cancun:
- Primary Goal: 260 pounds
- “I’ll be thrilled” Goal: 262 pounds
Yes, losing another 6 pounds in a little over a week is aggressive.
But even if I don’t fully get there, the momentum matters.
I Had an Epiphany
Earlier this week, I had a realization that honestly may be bigger than the number on the scale.
I started thinking about how much simply setting a goal — and publicly holding myself accountable through this blog — has affected my progress.
The original 250-pound target may have been difficult to hit in this timeframe, but it forced me to:
- Pay attention
- Track my habits
- Make better decisions more often
- Keep moving forward even after bad weekends or setbacks
That applies far beyond weight loss.
Goals create direction.
Without a target, it’s easy to drift.
Looking Beyond Cancun
That realization got me thinking about something even bigger:
What could I accomplish by the end of the year if I stay consistent?
The truth is, I haven’t hated these lifestyle changes.
There’s still room to improve:
- Cleaner eating
- Better portion control
- More water
- More consistent workouts
But for the first time in a long time, this doesn’t feel temporary.
It feels sustainable.
The Math Became Motivating
After Cancun, I’ll still have about 7 months left until January 1, 2027.
At first I thought:
“If I lose 3 pounds per month, that’s 21 pounds by the end of the year.”
If I’m around 265 pounds on June 1st, that would put me near 244 pounds by New Year’s Day.
That alone would be a huge accomplishment.
But then I thought deeper.
Throughout parts of this journey, I’ve shown that I can lose 3 pounds in a week when I’m truly focused.
So what if I averaged just:
- 1.5 pounds per week?
That becomes:
- 6 pounds per month
- 42 pounds over 7 months
That would put me around:
223 Pounds by January 1st
That number honestly excited me.
Not because it’s easy.
But because for the first time, it feels possible.
New Long-Term Goals
So I’m not stopping after Cancun.
The Sunday Weigh-Ins will continue.
January 1, 2027 Goals
- Primary Goal: 220 pounds
- Minimum Goal: 230 pounds
- Overachieving Goal: 215 pounds
Those numbers once felt impossible.
Now they feel like targets.
What It Will Take
Reaching those goals will require:
- Greater consistency with workouts
- Better discipline with nutrition
- Fewer excuses
- More intentional daily habits
That’s especially true with my training.
My biggest weakness hasn’t been knowledge.
It’s been consistency.
But I’m learning that motivation comes and goes — habits are what matter.
Final Thought
This journey started with one big goal:
Cancun 250.
Even if I don’t hit 250 before the trip, this process has already become something bigger than one vacation or one number on the scale.
It has shown me that:
- Progress is possible
- Discipline can be built
- Momentum matters
- And goals work when you commit to them
I’m not finished.
In many ways, I feel like I’m just getting started.
Now it’s time to keep stacking good days, stay consistent, and see how far I can really go.
220 by 2027. Let’s get to work.
